This blog is shared in the belief that we are intelligent people struggling in life due to negative choices – Sensible Humans, Insensible beings! I find it amusing to watch us doing the very things our basic sensibilities objects. We know how smoking can harm us, yet we choose to smoke. We know that no matter how many cars we cut off, we will still find them beside us at the next traffic signal and yet we choose to drive like maniacs. We spend more time and money on our wants by neglecting our needs. We hurt the ones who love us and depend on us for love, but we are lot more patient and tolerant towards those who mean nothing to us in relationships.  Likewise, we know many things, and what is right for us to do, yet we choose the wrong and eventually suffer. Amusing, isn’t it?

Each one of us are gifted with the several qualities that we do not realize or appreciate and continue to struggle over issues and problems due to our poor choices and basic lack of timely sensibilities. Yet, by simple practice of self-reflection, analysis and by making small, yet sincere efforts to learn from our mistakes, our experiences, the several advises being showered upon us all through our lives and learning from the mistakes of others we can help ourselves make better choices and life a much happier life.

Yes, each and every one of us can change our world, be much happier, become successful and do great things in life. For every great person we know, was once a struggling human being like ourselves. Each and every one of them, went through the same, if not worse, struggles and battles in their lives like us to accomplish great things in life. From the most severe of depressions, and heart breaks came the greatest classical musicians, from at poorest of houses raised the most charitable beings, and from the harshest of criticisms and failures raised many accomplished scientists, politicians and statesmen.  Thus, each one of us are no different from them in terms of the obstacles, hardships, challenges, hurts and pains we face in life. We too can do great things in life.

There are many extraordinary lessons in our ordinary living.  Many of these lessons repeat themselves in our lives. All we need to do is learn from them and make wise choices. I have learned many such lessons myself  and I wish to share my experiences and views with all, and especially with those who every once in a while feel that life is being unfair to them. I am no different from anyone of you. But my hardships teach me different lessons. I have learned to see things differently and make better choices in life. And with this blog and my writings, I hope to share my wisdom learned with you. Hope you burn your darkness away from your life with the fire of positive wisdom and will!

My two favorite quotes on experience:

“Learn all you can from the mistakes of others.  You won’t have time to make them all yourself.”  ~Alfred Sheinwold

“Experience is not what happens to a man.  It is what a man does with what happens to him.”  ~Aldous Leonard Huxley, Texts and Pretexts, 1932

And this is from me:

“It is not from the gifted that I have learned, nor from those who are considered to be powerful, successful or the learned. I have learned from the courageous men and women in my life who are often considered to be ordinary and yet have accomplished the extraordinary. I have learned from many who may not have been able to practice what they preached, but were generous and gracious enough to share their wisdom with others. I learn from the many lessons that life teaches us, as I continue my never-ending journey to become a better human being in an effort to make myself useful and serve God’s greatest creation – Humanity” – Maher
