Make your dreams come true

It is one of my most favorite things to do. Dream. Dream Big! Day or night, eyes wide open or shut, asleep or awake. I dream. In fact I dare to dream.

In my dreams I do great things. I invent things, come up with great money making business ideas, do heroic things, help people, win awards, gain love and respect etc. These are some of the positive dreams many of us have. Some of us come up with some brilliant ideas and solutions to many of our problems in our dreams. Many successful people have claimed to achieve their success by following such dreams.

Although Dreams have been a topic of scientific speculation, philosophical intrigue and religious interest throughout history, we are yet to put our finger on it and understand its meaning, value and purpose. However, it sure has inspired many to believe in it and set forth to making it come true. In the past, the Greek, Roman and Middle Eastern cultures often believe dreams to carry some divinity in it and were at times messages from God through our subconscious. Thus deciphering theses dreams and finding their meanings have always intrigued many. But one thing we can surely realize by our own individual experiences is that our dreams are deeply connected to our subconscious. It is often instigated by some of our real life events and thoughts that lie within our subconscious mind. And by tapping into our such real life events and situations our dreams can at times make a creative thought occur to the person or give a sense of inspiration.

“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe. ~  Gail Devers

But how do we make these dreams come true? How can we achieve what we dream?

The answer is simple. Wake up and do things to make it come true. It is easier to slip into these wonderful periods of escapism and continue to dream. But it can only happen and come true when you wake up. And to make your dreams come true you need to have the courage to set forth to achieving them and the right attitude. Many things that we enjoy today were once the dream of someone and many times considered to be an impossible dream to be achieved. If they were simply discarded as just some impossible dreams, we wouldn’t have landed in mars, had televisions, I phones, I Pads, super fantastic cars, or these spectacular movies that we enjoy, to name a few.

Our destiny changes with our thought; we shall become what we wish to become, do what we wish to do, when our habitual thought corresponds with our desire.  ~  Orison Swett Marden

Having dared to dream, here are a few things you can do to achieve your dreams:

Believe in your dreams – No matter how it may appear at that moment, if you see a possibility in achieving them, learn to believe in your dreams. The motivation, inspiration and the will to make it happen has to come from within you. It is your dream and your desire. Be it inventing something, solving a problem of yours, fighting against odds, getting rich, succeeding in your job etc.

Connect your dreams to your reality – Think about your dreams a little. Spend some time thinking if it can be truly achieved by realistic actions. List the possibilities of achieving them, the things you will need to do to make it come true in terms of time lines, things you will need to do, the obstacles you will need to overcome etc.

Take a winning attitude to achieving these – You need to primarily believe and expect to win. Believe that you will win and will do it. This will ensure that you will never stop trying. You will overcome obstacles, you will fight against the odds, and you will never give up because you are destined to win. This winning attitude will help you in other aspects of your life as well. It will give you the confidence; it will diminish your nervousness and anxiety and allow you to see beyond the immediate challenges on hand.

Pace yourself – Think of your dream and make it your goal. Take time for yourself, when you can think and reflect. Do supportive things that will help your belief and fuel your courage. Meditation,  walks in the woods, sitting by the sea, and prayer are a few things people do develop their ideas and gather their thoughts around their dreams and aspirations in life.

Believe in luck and good things will happen –  Bill Gates had once famously stated that his success is 30% luck and 70% hard work. This is very true for many. Bad luck and difficult times will come along, but with that so will good luck. It is believed that unlucky people have the same amount of bad luck that lucky people do. The difference is that lucky people tend to find ways to turn bad luck to their favor. Many people often thank their bad luck too. They say that bad things happen for a good reason. It makes them stronger and gives them to fight back and focused to their dreams and goals.

Always try different ways to achieve your dreams – There’s a saying that the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If you truly want to achieve your dreams and are unable to achieve it with your initial plan of action, then collect your thoughts and develop a new strategy as opposed to giving up. There is always more than one way of achieving your objectives. Always indulge in developing well though out strategies and solutions. Read my older post called “Cubixrule” on how to see your problems as unsolved opportunities.

Learn to identify the opportunities – Many people get so focused on the immediate issues or problems that they totally fail to see the opportunities that come their way. In his research and work on peoples perceptions of luck Dr. Richard Wiseman cites an experiment where he asked people to flip through a newspaper and count the number of pictures in the paper. The people were so intent on counting the pictures that they failed to notice a full-page ad saying that if they mentioned it to the researcher they’d get cash on the spot.

Take charge of your destiny – If there is anyone who can change your destiny, make your dreams come true and help you achieve success, it is none other than you. Believe in yourself and take the responsibility to achieving your dreams.
